(From Barbara, team leader – lightly edited)

Today we went to visit with the pastor and his wife who are at one of the churches in Koudougou… the same church where Steve preached on Sunday and where we both did our respective studies with the people (Steve with the pastors and I with the ladies). While there, the pastor asked if we would take some time to visit and encourage the youth leaders of the church so we went over to the church again and met with them for about one hour. They told us about their objectives for ministry for this year… some of their needs… but the one thing that they wanted the most was to have another student team come out and work along side of them like our team has done among the Lylele people.

After stopping at the pharmacy after our visit this morning (I am trying to get a sinus infection), we went to have a nice meal at the same restaurant where we ate on Tuesday.

It has been extremely hot today so we again came back to the hotel room after lunch to rest some and to do our packing.

Around four this afternoon we went back to the church at the pastor’s training school to leave 300 tracts with the youth of the church to help them in their evangelization projects. We visited briefly again with Pastor Antoine and his wife, Marcelline, before we said our farewells to them. We headed back to the hotel to do some more packing… I personally sat outside on the patio of the hotel for awhile to pray and have a Coke.

A group of three guys who dance, sing and play the drums were scheduled to come play for Steve, Tammy and me on the patio of the hotel around 6. They arrived on time but it took 2 hours for them to get permission from the manager of the hotel to play for us. We went ahead and ate our evening meal around 7… we had ordered rice and peanut sauce with chicken, one of our favorite African dishes, ahead of time. It was absolutely delicious!

Finally getting permission to play and dance for us, the three guys gave us a concert for about an hour. We have lots of photos of them… and lots of photos of everything else that we have experienced in our time here.

The students, David and Kerry will come from the village of Bouldie early in the morning and we will all head to Ouaga to let the students shop for souvenirs. They will also get to shower and change clothes. We must be at the airport at 4 to check in by 4:30 p.m. Then we can leave to go eat supper and come back to catch our flight that leaves at 8:15 tomorrow evening. I believe that our flight from Paris to Houston lands around 1:30 p.m. Saturday and then we will drive to Belton via the church bus. The students will want to stop somewhere to get something to eat so I do not know exactly what time we will arrive at the church. We will have cell phone contact as soon as we land in Houston on Saturday afternoon.

Thank you all for continuing to pray for all of us during our time here in Burkina Faso.

Lovingly!
Barbara (for all of us)

Thank you for sending me the link to this blog. How I have enjoyed reading each day what you are doing, what the team of students has been doing, and what God has been doing. Now to see what he will do in follow-up, both with the people there and with the students as they go home.
I never got to Burkina Faso. Robert went annually for many years and told me much about it and the work of the missionaries there.
I would love to hear the reports the students give of what is surely a life-changing experience.
    Blessings on all ofyou.
