Minister for Special Needs
We welcome everyone and want to provide the best experience possible for every family. The special needs ministry of First Baptist Belton seeks to provide opportunities for students with special needs to participate in gospel learning and to be included in all areas within our church family. We provide a number of learning environments, based on specific needs, safety, and comfort level, for individuals with special needs. Our desire is to partner with families to teach, train, and equip their loved ones with the gospel. For more information, please contact the church.
Special Needs Ministry
The Special Needs Ministry exists to reach individuals with special needs for Christ. Our passion is to educate through the teaching of scripture, offer opportunities to serve, and be an encouragement and support for families. We offer a number of programs and activities and would love for you to join us:
STARSS Extended Session
This class is offered to children while parents attend worship service. Extended Session is an extension of Sunday School and meets during the 11 am worship service.
STARSS Sunday School
We have two adaptive classes available, one for children/youth and one for older youth/adult. We also have buddy support for mainstream/graded SS classes. Tracy O’Banon would love to visit with you about the classes we offer.
Special Needs Respite
This quarterly activity is an opportunity for parents to have an evening out while the STARSS group enjoys a fun evening at the church with their friends. We offer games, open gym, food and fellowship!
Buddy Sports is an adaptive recreation program for children, youth, and young adults with special needs. Buddy Sports allows children to participate with the assistance of a buddy if needed. Buddy Sports is facilitated in a way that ensures everyone is successful, has a lot of fun, and learns about the love of Jesus! We currently offer Buddy Bowling in the spring, and Buddy Ball (basketball) and Buddy Cheer in the summer.
Serving Others Projects
Projects are scheduled on a regular basis to offer students the opportunity to serve others within our church and community.
We have variety of books and videos in the church library to reference for a specific need or diagnosis. We encourage you to stop by!
