Comprised of over 45 singers, the choir has been singing together for three years.

In addition to their local concerts, they are occasionally involved in music mission trips and sing for events either individually or combined with the other SWOT groups to share the message of Christ in venues such as the Baptist General Convention of Texas annual meetings, Baptist Church Music Conference session, and the Alleluia! Church Music Conference.

Their mission is to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ through music and to provide opportunities for Christian growth, inspiration, fellowship, mission service, and to encourage musical excellence within the local church.

Admission is free, and a love offering will be taken to help with their mission trip to New England in June.

Daniel Palmer and Scattered Leaves are coming to First Baptist Belton on November 6 at 6 pm.

According to their Web site, Daniel Palmer and Scattered Leaves is a band that formed around a mutual appreciation for chocolate covered donuts on a Sunday morning and “wannabe rock star personas.” They felt compelled to take their pursuits to the road.

Huntingtown, Maryland is where they call home, and their regular Sunday morning gig is why they do what they do. Their desire is to create melodies that take people on a journey that stirs their souls. Musical influences are as eclectic as the personal backgrounds and interests of the band members.

Their sound is often compared with modern rock such as Anberlin, MuteMath and Lifehouse; 80’s ballads much like the creations of Bon Jovi and Def Leppard; and even southern rock, you know, Texas stuff and much more. They enjoy performing traditional church anthems as you might hear sung by Joe Elliot of the aforementioned Def Leppard … minus the British accent, of course.

To get a taste of their music, check out their Facebook fan page.

Our children’s choirs will kick off their year on Wednesday, September 9. These choirs will meet during the school year on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7 pm. They will present a Christmas concert on Sunday, December 6, and a spring concert on Sunday, May 2, 2010.

Youth Choirs

Our middle school and high school choirs will begin rehearsing on Sunday, September 13 from 4:30-5:30 pm. Both of these choirs will sing for the Christmas program on December 6. The New Spirit choir will go on a weekend trip in the spring of 2010. The Agape Singers will go on their annual mission trip in early June 2010.

Senior Adult Choir

Our senior adult New Horizon choir will begin their rehearsals on Tuesday, September 8. This group rehearses every Tuesday, except the first Tuesday of the month, from 3:30-4:30 pm in the choir room. They sing once a month for our evening service throughout the year. They will also sing for the Christmas concert on Sunday night, December 6. For the past two years, they have participated in the state senior adult choir festival. New Horizon is open to anyone age 55 and up.

Worship Choir

Our worship choir leads our 8:30 am service and rehearses every Wednesday night from 7 – 8:15 pm in the choir room. The worship choir also presents programs during the year. This year, we will present The First Noel on Sunday night, December 13, at 6 pm.

In addition, we present an annual God and Country Concert on or before the 4th of July. This concert features our choir and one of the division bands from Fort Hood and is presented at the Mayborn Campus Center at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. Choir membership is open to anyone college age and up.

Orchestra

Our church orchestra plays during our 8:30 am worship service. They rehearse every Wednesday from 6 – 7 pm in the worship center. This group accompanies our congregational singing and our choral anthems almost every Sunday. They also accompany the choir for our special programs throughout the year. The orchestra is open to players in high school and up. If you currently play an instrument or want to have an opportunity to dust off your instrument from days gone by, we would love to have you join us.

Full Schedule

The music ministry at First Baptist Church has a place for everyone ages 3 – 93 to serve the Lord through music. Come join us as we make His praise glorious!

He sings many different styles of music which will minister to all ages. He truly knows how to communicate the life-changing love of Christ through music and testimony. Adam Paul and his wife Kellie reside in McKinney, Texas. He will be our musical guest in both morning services as well.

Growing up as an all-American guy, Adam Paul Williams developed three major themes in his life: a love of sports, a set of deep family values, and a love of Christian music. His high school years in Carthage, Texas were spent in baseball, choir, and playing percussion in band, but his love of music and his core family values are the legacy of a loving family that remains strong today.

“Growing up, my dad was in a southern gospel quartet,” Adam Paul recalls, “and I always traveled around with them listening to them sing. So from my earliest memories, I was surrounded by Christian music. Just having a family who loves the Lord has taught me the importance of a spiritual walk with Christ. I accepted Christ when I was nine years old. I had always grown up in church, and when I realized what I needed to do and felt God calling me, I decided to accept him.” On Father’s Day 1991, Adam Paul’s parents led him in a prayer of salvation to his Heavenly Father, and he was baptized just a few weeks later.

Adam Paul admits his heart’s desire is to be able to sing the Lord’s praises forever. “I love going to churches and singing for people. No matter what comes of my professional career, I always want to be able to give God all the glory. Even if I end up singing on the street corner, it’ll bring me joy because I know I’m using the gifts God gave me to glorify Him. I’ll go where God leads, and in being where He wants me, I know I’ll always be happy.”

Join us on April 19 for this free concert. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for seating.

The choir (formerly the Men’s Glee Club) is an auditioned group of male musicians. The group has a strong heritage, dating back to the fall of 1895, and has served as an integral part of the university’s music program.

Past concert highlights include performances at Carnegie Hall, Saint Bartholomew Episcopal Church in New York, the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, and the Southwestern American Choral Directors Association Convention. The choir’s most recent international tour was to Kenya in the summer of 2005. The group’s annual season includes performances for Parent’s Weekend, Fall and Spring Concerts, Tour Concerts, the Baylor University Christmas Concerts and frequent appearances for university guests, alumni, and members of the wider community.

Membership in the choir is open by audition to all male students on the Baylor campus and includes representatives from many departments and majors. Rehearsals are limited to two eighty-minute sessions each week. For more information, visit their website.
