Our hearts are broken for our brothers and sisters in Christ at First Baptist Temple this morning. At this moment, it appears that their worship center, offices, and much of their education space is a total loss. I have spoken with the pastor, Martin Knox, and assured him of our prayers. I have offered any assistance that we can give.

As for now, please pray. I know that God will be glorified, and I know that First Baptist Temple will emerge from this a stronger church. But right now, they are grieving and shocked, as we would be if it had been here. If I learn of other things that we can do, I will alert you.

Kim Hardin has already received many calls from parents who have their children in the FBCT Day Care and need a place for their children. Pray for Kim as she responds in the best way that she can.

- Andy Davis

For the past two years, we have listed suggested readings each week in the worship bulletin that would enable you to complete the Bible in one year.

For 2010, we are changing the format. I think you will find it to be exciting. The Bible will be divided into 7 categories as follows:

Sundays: Psalms

Mondays: Poetry

Tuesdays: Prophecy

Wednesdays: The Gospels

Thursdays: The Epistles

Fridays: The Law

Saturdays: History

God bless you as you read God’s Word in 2010.

Note: you can always download the most current worship bulletin on this site by clicking on “Resources > Weekly Bulletin (pdf)” above.

We announced previously that we would conduct an emergency evacuation drill on December 6. Due to cold weather and rain, we decided to postpone that drill to a later date. As it turned out, we had an active alarm on December 13. We wanted to keep you updated about the situation. The alarm on December 13 was not a drill, it was an active alarm, caused by a smoke detector that was triggered by smoke from burning pancakes in a small group classroom.

We will always announce planned drills ahead of time. In order to avoid this type of alarm in the future, we will be making changes that require all cooking to be done in kitchens rather than small group rooms. On a positive note, we were able to evacuate the entire building in five minutes and 45 seconds. This is about 45 seconds higher than our target, but it is very impressive considering this was really our first time to evacuate this many people.

It is important that we conduct drills of this type periodically in order to ensure that all of our members and regular attenders are prepared in case of an emergency. Please watch the video above for information on how to evacuate our building safely. (If you are reading this in an email or feed reader, click here to see the video)

We can not say thank you enough for all that she has done. Allison and her husband are expecting their second baby. She will be a full-time stay-at-home mom.

Kim Miller, her husband Scott, and their children Abigail, Emily, and Annalysse are a great blessing to First Baptist Belton. Welcome, Kim. We pledge to pray for you and support you. Thanks for your willingness to serve.
