Have you ever been in a situation with someone you love and care about who was searching spiritually where you didn’t feel prepared or equipped to share with them? Have you found yourself with someone you don’t know very well and they initiated some thought provoking questions as they probed and searched for spiritual truth, but you didn’t know how to respond? Have you ever just wondered what you would say to someone if they point blank asked you, ‘how can a person know for certain he is going to heaven?’ or ‘how can a person as bad as me have hope of spending eternity with God?’

If so, beginning on Tuesday, February 2, there will be an opportunity to receive some practical training in sharing your faith, the Good News of Jesus Christ, with those in your world when the opportunity presents itself. This six week class will meet from 6:30 – 8:30 pm in room 254, and Charlie Robinson will be honored to take this journey with you.

Sign-up by emailing Karen Padgett, contacting the church office at (254) 939-0705, or completing the green sheets found around the building with the discipleship offerings for the Spring 2010 semester. There is no cost! Just bring your Bible, a teachable spirit and a love for the Lord and folks He died for.

Discipleship Training is our “seminary for laymen” and provides for the equipping of the saints as we grow into servant leaders in our homes, church and community. Registration for the discipleship class designed just for you is open now. Forms can be found in your small group, picked up throughout the church or in the info rack in the office. You can also email your registration to Kandy Kirkley . Be sure to include your name and phone number.

Some classes have fees associated with them to cover materials. Fees are payable at the first class session.

Precept Spring Bible Study

The Tuesday morning Precept Bible study will begin January 13 with the study of 2 Peter. The 8 week study will cost $15, and registration can be made by contacting Kandy Kirkley. Following this study, a 5 week study of Matthew will begin in March.

Precept meets on Tuesday mornings from 9:15-11:30 a.m. for those who are willing to do 5-6 hrs. of homework. The two-hour class involves an hour of group discussion and an hour of video teaching. Precept is an inductive Bible study. Inductive Bible study shows you how to discover God’s Truth for yourself. The concept behind the inductive study method is to get students personally, intimately involved with the subject, observing carefully for themselves.

Precept uses a straightforward investigative approach to open the Bible and build context for each statement it contains. That’s where we find God’s precepts—or principles—for life. Inductive study is the tool used to collect those precepts to build a God-glorifying, Bible-centered worldview with clear applications to live the abundant, victorious life in Christ.
