Why Do We Give To The Local Church?
“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it…”
As Christ Followers, we believe that we are stewards of God’s resources because He is the owner of all that we have. Throughout scripture, we are reminded of the importance of giving back a portion of what God has so generously provided. His Word tells us that giving is an act of worship that should be done with a spirit of thanksgiving.
How do we give?
At First Baptist we have a couple of ways that you can give to God’s work through your tithes and offerings. You can give by check or cash on Sundays, or you can mail or drop off a check to our offices. You may also choose to use the online bill pay service provided by your bank.
You may also make a gift online. We strongly urge you to give by electronic check as the transaction fees paid by the church are significantly less than those required for card transactions. For example, when giving a $100 gift, the church pays between $2.86-$4.36 in fees when you give by Visa or MasterCard versus only 55 cents when giving by electronic check. Also, giving by electronic check ensures that you do not give from the bondage of debt but from the abundance God has provided to you. A number of people in our congregation also give online by using the free bill pay services provided by their bank. The church pays no transactional fees when giving by this method. Some of the benefits to you can include savings on current income taxes, better control of your estate, and reduced taxes for your heirs.
