Church Activity Weekly Update 3/16/20

Welcome to our first Church Activity Weekly Update. Look for these updates from First Baptist Belton each Monday afternoon until things return to a more “normal” schedule for us all. Look for other exciting videos and encouragement or important updates on the in-between days.

Thanks to all of you who joined us online yesterday for worship; we reached a record number of participants in several states and countries! God is good and faithful through this very unusual season for us. We look forward to seeing what new and creative ways problems are solved and people are reached. Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Below is a summary of on-campus and scheduled church activities for your reference. This list will be updated every Monday afternoon, or as-needed in between, until no longer merited. We continue to follow our local, state, and federal guidance to show compassion to our community, our higher-risk demographic, and our medical-profession friends and neighbors.

Based on the recent CDC recommendation of limiting gatherings of 50 or more for the next eight weeks, our Sunday morning worship will continue to be online until further notice; look for more communication later this week on that. We are putting several measures in place this week to assure quality broadcast for you as you watch from your home or with a small group of family or friends.

Other events that will not meet in person until we are cleared to do so (probably a few weeks) include:

  • All age choir/orchestra/praise team practices and performances
  • Church Weekday Ministry (following BISD guidelines)
  • Kingdom Kids
  • Tune-Up
  • Sunday school
  • Youth Midweek and life groups
  • AWANA
  • Golden Age Club
  • All on-campus Wednesday Bible studies
  • Come Learn Spanish class
  • Deacons meeting
  • ESL Class
  • Hispanic Bible study
  • College Spiritual Gift Workshop
  • Community Bible Study
  • Endeared Ladies Banquet

Items that will be left up to each group to decide due to smaller size groups (check w/your leader or chairman):

  • Iron Sharpening Iron (not meeting THIS week)
  • Shoulder 2 Shoulder meetings
  • Wednesday Prayer Huddle
  • Elder meetings
  • Sunday school group dinners
  • Refit
  • All Committee Meetings (Personnel, Finance and Church Weekday all WILL MEET this week)

Special note: The prayer room will remain OPEN, but please pray from home if you are ill or have any personal concern about your own participation; we are flexible, and God hears you regardless of your location.

Finally, stay connected! We will offer some ideas in the following days, but if your small group normally texts, emails, or shares prayer requests or Sunday lessons on Realm, continue to do so! Check on each member to make sure they have what they need. Look for creative ways you can minister to others in our church and in the community to show Jesus’ love in an extraordinary time.
