Our regularly scheduled business conference is this Sunday evening, October 16, at 5:50 pm, immediately prior to evening worship. The Personnel Committee will present for church approval their recommendation to create a new Minister of Missions position. They will also advise the church of several positions that have been reorganized with their approval at significant cost savings, making the addition of the Minister of Missions cost-neutral event with no addition to the 2011 or 2012 budget.
Organizational Changes:
Part-Time Technology Manager: With the departure of Matthew Irvine, our Director of Communications and Technology, we have rescaled the position to a part-time Technology Manager working with a revitalized IT Team and retaining the assistance of an IT Intern. The Communications and Marketing function has returned to Gary and Nita with the possible creation of a Marketing Team to help guide and assist. We also have a church member volunteer as a fresh set of eyes assisting with editing.
Similarly, with the recent departures of Dave Covington and Daniel Rowe, we are provided an opportunity to review our organization and make some changes without incurring additional costs. This is how we are planning to move forward:
Part-Time Middle School Minister: After much discussion, we’ve decided that the best way to shepherd our middle schoolers is to hire someone to work with Matt Hollingsworth (Student Minister) for up to 30 hours per week. This position has been announced and we are currently accepting resumes.
Upward Ministry Director: We have hired Joel Kelley to be this year’s Upward Director. Joel began a few weeks ago, and he will serve in this position until mid-March 2012.
Upward Ministry Assistant Director: Since the Upward program requires many man-hours, we will need to hire an additional part-time employee to serve alongside our Upward Director during the actual session beginning early January through mid-March.
New Position
Missions Pastor: There is so much that God has been doing through First Baptist Belton in regards to missions and globalization, and we are wonderfully blessed with so many that have helped spread the Gospel locally and internationally. However, there is so much more to be done, and we feel that now is the perfect time to empower a minister to oversee our missions focus on a full-time basis. We believe that this will allow us to implement strategies that will involve every age group in the vision of First Baptist Belton.
These changes were approved by the Personnel Committee on October 12. The new Minister of Missions position will be recommended for church approval during business conference at 5:50 p.m. this Sunday.
