We are opening our gym as an emergency shelter to house 100 people displaced by Hurricane Ike. Governor Rick Perry has declared 88 coastal counties as disaster areas, and many towns are preparing for mandatory evacuations.
We will begin receiving people at around 4:00 p.m. today. Our Emergency Preparedness Team is meeting at 11:00 a.m. to prepare. We will be full immediately. If you know anyone else who is displaced and needs a place to go, please refer them to the Red Cross at (888) 776-9226.
Many regularly scheduled events will be moved to alternate locations. Please check your email regularly if you lead a group that is scheduled to use the gym, game room or parlor in the coming week.
Thanks for your willingness to help and house those in need. For specific questions about our shelter operations, please choose the appropriate person from those listed below. All can be reached by clicking their name or calling (254) 939-0705.
Contact Craig Pearson for all logistical questions, Nathan Parr for all facilities related questions, or Grant Hickman if you would like to volunteer to help.
